The limits are built into Piplab, not hidden in a settings page. There is nothing for you to get wrong.

There is no chat box

Pip only helps build things. Ask it for an essay, a homework answer or last night's score and it offers to build something instead — every time.

Everything they build can stop

No program that runs forever, no loop that will not quit. A child never ends up thinking they broke the computer.

Their code cannot reach the internet

Every way of getting online is removed before their program starts — not blocked by a setting, removed. There is nothing to turn back on.

Nobody can contact your child

No messages, no comments, no profiles, no feed. The only inbox in Piplab carries notes between a child's own builds.

The safest setting is the one nobody can forget.

A control panel only protects a child whose parent found it and got it right. So we did not build one.

Their program cannot reach the internet because the ways of reaching it are not there. Nobody can message your child because there is no messaging. You cannot get these wrong — there is nothing to set.

Common questions

Can they ask it about anything? No. Anything that is not a build comes back as an offer to make something instead.

Can another child contact mine? No — not because we moderate it well, but because there is no messaging, no comments and no profiles at all.

Can their program reach the internet? No. Every network function is removed before it starts, and Pip refuses to write one in.

Can it use the camera or microphone? No. Piplab does not use the camera or the microphone at all.

Can I see what they have been doing? Yes. The account is yours, and every build is saved with its full history. Nothing is hidden from you — or from them.

What personal details do you collect on my child? None you don't hand over. A child's login is a username you choose — no email address — and we never ask them for a phone number, an address or a photo.
